EXPANDING THE POPULARITY OF PEDAL CARS AMONG YOUNGSTERS THROUGH INTERNATIONAL NETWORKING

EU RIDE aims to promote the culture of pedal cars and their diffusion as sports activity in the EU by setting the following specific objectives:

• raise local communities’ awareness on pedal cars and its potentials for youngsters’ wellbeing
• transfer and capitalize the results achieved in the previous project Ride to Learn in Europe
• contribute to set a shared theoretical framework for the regulations of pedal cars main activities
• disseminate basic know-how on pedal cars construction as a means to attract youngsters’ interest
• enhance networking capacities for the sports associations involved in the project.

The action is structured in the following main sets of activities:

• valorization of pedal cars through dedicated mapping & informative documents on how to develop pedal car events
• transfer of know-how on building and maintaining pedal cars through tailored materials
• creation of an international network on Pedal cars for different audiences

As a result, EU RIDE will produce the following outputs and impacts:

1. a report on the state of the art on pedal cars in EU countries
2. a manual for associations and local bodies on how to develop pedal car races & events
3. a toolkit for learning and teaching how to build pedal cars
4. video tutorials on pedal cars construction

• development of an international online platform for a EU network on pedal cars
• improved capacities of local administrators & associations to organize pedal cars events for everyone
• greater focus dedicated to pedal cars construction in local technical schools’ programmes as a creative, engaging activity
• raised students’ engagement through laboratories for the construction of pedal cars
• raised youngsters’ & children’s participation in sports activities oriented to collaboration, teamrok, valorization of different expertise
• larger international exchange possibilites for students and teachers
• enhanced networking possibilities for pedal cars fans EU-wide.
