Why this project?

Levels of physical inactivity and sedentary behaviour (SB) are high in the European Union. It considered a main risk factor for a number of diseases.

Recent technological advances in current workplaces have created and will continue to do into the future a sedentary environment, which impacts on the well-being (physical and mental health) and productivity of the worker.

The COVID-19 pandemic replaced the presence at the workplace with a remote mode, and nowadays, many companies are adopting home-office policies, it means an even more drastic reduction in physical activity (PA) and increased SB. According to the priorities of the EU policy on employment and social affairs,  workplace health promotion is important, especially computer-based jobs, office employees spent a lot of they working day sitting.

Self-monitoring is a key to increase individuals awareness of and empowerment towards behaviour change. Mobil health (mHealth) technology has a potential value in health promotion lies in its widespread appeal, accessibility and ability.
